About the program
What is Linux Health?
Linux Health is a telehealth platform connecting patients with board-certified physicians who specialize in obesity medicine. We provide prescription GLP-1 weight loss medication with full physician oversight, care team support, and medication delivery — all online, no in-person visits required.
How does the screening work?
The screening is a free, 5-minute online questionnaire that collects your health history, current medications, height, weight, and weight loss goals. No credit card is required. A board-certified physician reviews your answers within 24-48 hours to determine if treatment is clinically appropriate for you.
Am I eligible for treatment?
GLP-1 treatment is typically appropriate for adults with a BMI of 30+ (obese), or BMI 27+ (overweight) with at least one weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol. Your physician makes the final determination based on your complete health profile.
How quickly will I receive my medication?
Most patients receive medication within 7 days of completing their screening: 24-48 hours for physician review, same-day prescription if approved, and 3-5 business days for delivery. Total time from screening to first dose is typically one week.
Do I need to see a doctor in person?
No. Everything is handled online — screening, physician review, prescribing, ongoing care, and messaging. No appointments to schedule, no waiting rooms, no driving to the office.
Treatment
About the medication
What medication do you prescribe?
We prescribe a dual GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist — the newest generation of FDA-approved weight loss medication. It works by activating both GLP-1 and GIP hormone pathways to reduce appetite, slow digestion, and preserve lean muscle mass. It's administered as a once-weekly injection with a pre-filled pen.
How is this different from Ozempic or Wegovy?
Ozempic and Wegovy contain semaglutide, which targets only the GLP-1 receptor. Our medication targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, resulting in greater average weight loss (22.5% vs 15.3%), better lean muscle retention (94%), and fewer GI side effects due to the GIP buffering effect.
What are the side effects?
The most common side effects are mild and usually resolve within the first 1-2 weeks: nausea (most common), decreased appetite (expected/therapeutic), mild constipation or diarrhea, and injection site redness. Serious side effects are rare. Your physician starts you on a low dose and gradually increases to minimize side effects.
How do I take the injection?
Once weekly, using a pre-filled pen similar to an insulin pen. You select a site (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm), clean the area, and press the pen against your skin. Most patients say they barely feel it. Your care team provides a step-by-step guide and is available for questions.
Will I gain weight back if I stop?
Clinical data shows some weight regain after discontinuation, which is why your physician works with you on a maintenance protocol. Many patients transition to a lower maintenance dose. Some patients are able to discontinue with sustained lifestyle changes. Your physician develops a personalized long-term plan.
Can I take this with other medications?
GLP-1 medications can interact with certain drugs, particularly diabetes medications, blood thinners, and oral contraceptives (due to slowed absorption). Your physician reviews all current medications during screening and monitors for interactions throughout treatment.

No. Insurance is not required and not accepted. Your monthly plan covers everything — medication, physician, supplies, and shipping. No surprise bills, no prior authorizations, no claims to file. HSA/FSA cards are accepted.
Can I use my HSA/FSA?
Yes. Prescription weight loss treatment prescribed by a licensed physician typically qualifies for HSA/FSA reimbursement. We provide itemized receipts for submission. Check with your plan administrator for your specific plan's requirements.

Yes. No long-term contracts, no cancellation fees. Cancel through your patient portal or by messaging support. Your current month's medication is yours to use. We also offer the ability to pause your plan if you need a break.
What if I'm not approved?
You only pay if your physician determines treatment is appropriate. The screening is free — no credit card required. If you're not a candidate, we'll let you know. No charge, no obligation.
Safety
Safety and medical concerns
Is this treatment safe?
GLP-1 medications have been studied in clinical trials involving over 12,400 participants and have been used clinically for over 15 years. They are FDA-approved with a well-established safety profile. As with any prescription medication, your physician evaluates whether treatment is appropriate for your specific health situation.
Who should NOT take this medication?
GLP-1 medications are contraindicated in patients with: personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 syndrome, history of pancreatitis, pregnancy or breastfeeding, severe gastroparesis, or type 1 diabetes. Your physician screens for all contraindications during review.
Are your physicians licensed?
Yes. All Linux Health physicians are board-certified, licensed in your state, and specialize in obesity medicine or related fields. They undergo our credentialing process and maintain active medical licenses.
What if I have a medical emergency?
If you experience a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Our platform is designed for non-emergency medical care. For urgent but non-emergency questions about your medication, our care team is available 7 days a week via secure messaging.
